MIPIM, based in Cannes, France, is one of the most anticipated events of the year in the Real Estate Industry. It brings together Property Developers, Investors, Architects, and Industry Professional's from around the world to discuss trends and investment opportunities, forge partnerships, and showcase ground-breaking projects. This year, Northern Group had the privilege of attending this prestigious event to be a part of discussions shaping the future of property development, particularly in the context of urban regeneration and sustainable growth.
There were multiple stands representing the key cities that shape the Global Real Estate Market and featured exhibitions, conferences, and various networking events over several days. It was great to see Manchester’s prominence as a key city for investment recognised globally & have such a prime exhibition spot on La Croisette, amongst London, Rome & Paris. There were key themes for Manchester at MIPIM, such as 'Investing in Success, Creating Opportunities', 'Innovation and Talent', and 'Fairer and Greener', which featured prominently in panels and keynote speakers from those that are investing in the city-region's future.
There was a dynamic schedule for Manchester at MIPIM, that detailed exciting projects within Greater Manchester including Trafford Park, MediaCity, Holt Town, Stockport, Rochdale and more! One of our highlights of the week was hearing more about Holt Town, an emerging regeneration zone in Manchester. This exciting news had already hit the press, but David West, co-founder of Studio Egret West, who were recently appointed to draw up the vision for Holt Town, provided us with an energetic presentation on the plans and potential for the area, which added an extra layer of excitement.
Another session that we found particularly interesting was ‘Manchester What Next? – The New Neighbourhoods Driving Growth and Opportunity.’ The speakers, Rebecca Heron and Mike Emmerich, discussed how Manchester’s growth over the last ten to fifteen years will look different to the remarkable success of the last decade. They highlighted the opportunities to develop and expand the city’s core, as well as the importance of continue fostering jobs, homes, and infrastructure, while delving into what these neighbourhoods will look like and how the shift in the city’s new economic strategy will impact the regrowth needed.
MIPIM Cannes provided an unparalleled platform for networking and collaboration within the industry and enabled Northern Group to connect with like-minded professionals and potential partners including investors, funders, consultants and contractors. We ensured we communicated the scope of our business activities, which extend to providing letting and management services to not just our own developments but other buildings and property owners around Greater Manchester. We seized every opportunity to cultivate relationships and explore synergies that could drive our future projects forward. It was very exciting to be part of the discussion shaping the future of property development and management.
Overall, MIPIM Festival affirmed our belief in the power of collaboration and innovation in the real estate sector and we look forward to leveraging our learnings to drive positive change in Manchester and its position as a dynamic and thriving urban hub.
